Basketball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Norwayne's Winning Streak

Norwayne and Portsmouth squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Norwayne had to settle for second. The game between the Norwayne Bobcats and the Portsmouth Trojans didn't end well, with the Norwayne Bobcats falling 53-38. The match marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Norwayne's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Maibach, who shot 42% from the field on her way to 15 points and eight rebounds. That was a full 39.5% of Norwayne's points, marking the third time in a row Maibach has posted more than a third of the team's points. Hannah Froelich was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.1 points on average over those games. As for Portsmouth, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 27-1.
