Normal University's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 55-12 win over the Decatur Eisenhower Panthers. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 43 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Normal University to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cade Cunningham, who picked up 134 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Cunningham has become a key player for the Pioneers: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least 80 receiving yards, but 0-3 otherwise. Max Dameron was another key rusher, rushing for 91 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Normal University was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 217 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Decatur Eisenhower only rushed for 96.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Normal University's defense and their five sacks. Decatur Eisenhower's QB won't forget Andrew Felstead anytime soon given he sacked him three times. Darieus Perry got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Decatur Eisenhower's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Garryon Henderson, who rushed for 57 yards and one score, and also threw for 210 yards and one TD on only 19 passes.
Normal University picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-4. As for Decatur Eisenhower, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-7.
Normal University has already played their next contest, a 50-14 win against Springfield Southeast on the 17th. As for Decatur Eisenhower, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 27-21 victory against Lanphier on the 17th.
