Volleyball Recap: Ellsworth Takes a Loss

If Ellsworth was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Ell-Saline on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bearcats fell just short of the Little River Redskins by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Bearcats have struggled against the Redskins recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Ellsworth sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 16-25, 25-18.

Defeat or not, Ellsworth got some senior leadership from Kelli Rodriguez and Reagan Hansen. Rodriguez had 17 digs and one assist, while Hansen had 15 assists and three aces. Those three aces set a new season-high mark for Hansen.

Ellsworth's loss dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Little River, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Ellsworth wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Southeast of Saline on the 27th. As for Little River, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Lyons on the 27th.
