Softball Recap: Malden's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Malden dropped their record down to 24-9 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Kennett Indians by a score of 10-9. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Indians this season, with their most recent loss being a 12-2 defeat two weeks ago.

Malden got a massive performance out of Carsyn Cohen, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Mariah Loya was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

As for Kennett, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 26-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 22nd.

On Kennett's side, Handley McAtee made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts McAtee has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Avery Payne was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Emma Tinnin, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

As of now, neither Malden nor Kennett have any future games scheduled.
