Baseball Recap: West Mifflin Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact West Mifflin can now relate to. They fell just short of the Central Valley Warriors by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Jake Martina was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jayvon Thompson was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.

West Mifflin has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-6 record this season. As for Central Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-10.

As of now, neither West Mifflin nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
