Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Copper Basin). They put the hurt on the Hayesville Yellowjackets with a sharp 12-2 win on Monday. The Cougars have beaten the Yellowjackets the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Yellowjackets has come to flipping the script.

Riley Akens was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Claire Ledford was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Copper Basin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hayesville only posted an OBP of .346.

Copper Basin's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hayesville, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Copper Basin has already played their next match, a 6-5 defeat against Sale Creek on the 8th. Hayesville has also already played their next game (against Cherokee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
