Hooks' hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: De Kalb hadn't allowed a single run the last five times they've hit the field. The Bears' pitcher stepped up to hand Queen City a 21-0 shutout on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Bears have beaten the Bulldogs on their field since March 19, 2021.
Kaydee Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Caylin Corbett was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kailyn Betts, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
De Kalb kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Hooks got the win against Redwater on Tuesday by a conclusive 17-6.
Zoey Greenwood was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Lewis, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI.
De Kalb is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Hooks, their win bumped their record up to 20-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. De Kalb hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Hooks struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
