Basketball Recap: Lucas Hipp's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tok over Effie Kokrine Charter

Tok suffered their closest defeat since March 9, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Effie Kokrine Charter Warriors by a score of 70-68. The Wolverines have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Tok's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucas Hipp, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. With that strong performance, Hipp is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Chairo Espinosa was another key player, putting up 23 points along with six assists and four steals.

Jonas Carroll was his usual excellent self, posting 33 points for Effie Kokrine Charter. Carroll is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 20 or more in each of the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeffery Frank, who posted 17 points.

Tok's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Effie Kokrine Charter, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Tok wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 70-61 win against Nenana on the 22nd. As for Effie Kokrine Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-44 victory against Glennallen on the 22nd.
