Basketball Recap: UME Preparatory Academy Takes a Loss

UME Preparatory Academy lost against Newman International Academy back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The UME Preparatory Academy EAGLES took a blow against the Newman International Academy Warriors, falling 47-19. The EAGLES were down 38-17 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Newman International Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Arianna Miranda, who went 9 of 15 on her way to 19 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Miranda has scored at least a third of Newman International Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Khori Epps, who posted 13 points and five steals.

UME Preparatory Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Newman International Academy, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-9.

UME Preparatory Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Newman International Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025. As for Newman International Academy, they will square off against Covington at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
