Softball Recap: Kearsley Takes a Loss

Kearsley had lost six straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-7 to make it seven. They lost 11-3 to the Holly Bronchos. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 12-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

As for Holly, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

For Holly's part, Alyssa Bowman made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Bowman has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Molly Charboneau (SVSU) was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with four stolen bases and two runs. Addyson Quick was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.

Looking ahead, Kearsley will take on Bentley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holly, they will host Detroit Country Day at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
