Preview: St. John-Vianney Lancers vs. Asbury Park Bishops
St. John-Vianney has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Asbury Park Bishops at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, St. John-Vianney ended up a good deal behind Colts Neck and lost 41-27.
Despite their loss, St. John-Vianney saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Abdul Turay, who rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, was perhaps the best of all. Turay was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. Mark Augello also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Asbury Park, who are still winless after their sixth contest. They took a 27-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of Manchester Township. The match was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but Asbury Park was outscored by Manchester Township in the second.
St. John-Vianney has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost six of their first eight matches, which leaves them at a 2-6 record this season. As for Asbury Park, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 0-6.
