Football Recap: White County Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

White County had won two straight games and Callieanna Griggs did her part to make it three on Tuesday. The Warriors enjoyed a cozy 21-7 victory over the Van Buren County Eagles for which the team can thank Griggs, who rushed for 176 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries. Her longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards.

White County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Breanna Powel.

Despite the defeat, Van Buren County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Abigail Grissom rushed for 98 yards and one TD on only ten carries.

White County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.3 points on average this season. As for Van Buren County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Coming up, White County will welcome Gordonsville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Van Buren County, they have already played their next match, a 42-13 loss against Stone Memorial on the 1st.
