Soccer Game Preview: Horizon vs. Boulder

Horizon is 1-9 against Boulder since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m.

Horizon came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Rock Canyon, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Horizon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Rock Canyon are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, Boulder had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 goals) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 4-0 shutout. Considering Boulder have won six contests by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Brighton with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Mia DeJohn, Neva Woodson, Kiri Fogarty-Sears, and Ane Mackey.

Boulder's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those eight matchups. As for Horizon, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4-2.
