Softball Game Preview: Imperial Tigers vs. San Marcos Knights

The Imperial Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the San Marcos Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Imperial is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

While Imperial's win against West Hills wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Wolf Pack 5-3.

Imperial saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalia Espinoza, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave Espinoza a new career-high. Raegan Ray was another, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, San Marcos suffered their biggest loss since March 1st on Wednesday. They lost 15-1 to Poway. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Imperial pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for San Marcos, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Imperial has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like San Marcos struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
