The Cheyenne Desert Shields will head out to challenge the Cimarron-Memorial Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cheyenne is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.5 runs per game this season.

Cheyenne had taken Del Sol down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end last Tuesday. Cheyenne took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Del Sol. The contest marked the Desert Shields' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Cheyenne saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Scott Cox, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Cimarron-Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 19-8 to Boulder City.

Jaxon Peace made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Cheldon Isa also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Cimarron-Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Cheyenne, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 10-1.

Cimarron-Memorial's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cheyenne hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .403. It's a different story for Cimarron-Memorial, though, as they've only averaged .202. Will they be able to contain Cheyenne's hitters?

Cheyenne suffered a grim 14-7 defeat to Cimarron-Memorial when the teams last played back in April of 2019. Can Cheyenne avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
