Softball Preview: West Washington Senators vs. Mitchell Bluejackets

West Washington is 7-1 against Mitchell since May of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. In what's become a running theme this season, West Washington gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand New Albany a 6-0 shutout. Give West Washington's pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

The result came thanks to Elliot Nance's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts every time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Riley Hall, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with a stolen base and an RBI. Another player making a difference was Lilly Thompson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Mitchell had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on South Central with a sharp 8-0 win on Friday.

Not much got past Karsyn Coleman, who gave up just one hit and racked up ten Ks to keep South Central off the board.

On the hitting side, Page Mullis was incredible, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Davaney Roop, who went 3-for-4 with a triple and a double.

West Washington pushed their record up to 12-0 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Mitchell, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.

Both the pair just can't seem to miss. West Washington has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Mitchell struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
