Football Recap: Grayslake Central Comes Up Short

Grayslake Central extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Monday, dropping them down to 0-4. They had to suffer through a 46-12 loss at the hands of the Lakes Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Eagles are ranked 30th).

As for Lakes, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Considering their offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Madeline Loar produced another solid effort throwing for 234 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 43 yards and one touchdown. Her passing game has become a key predictor of Lakes' success: the team is undefeated when her passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Makayla Williams was another key player, gaining 77 total yards and a touchdown.

Looking ahead, Grayslake Central will take on North Chicago at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lakes, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 32-0 win against Guilford on the 9th.
