            Softball Preview: St. Patrick Fighting Irish vs. Poplarville Hornets        
        
		
        
        
            The St. Patrick Fighting Irish will head out to  take on the Poplarville Hornets  at 8:30  a.m.  on Saturday.
St. Patrick fell victim to Baker and their airtight pitching crew  on Friday. They took  a  5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hornets. The  game marked the first time this season in which the Fighting Irish were not able to get on the board.
 St. Patrick saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Tara Nasakaitis, who  went 1-for-3 with two  stolen bases. That's the most  stolen bases  Nasakaitis has posted since back in May of 2024.
 Meanwhile, Poplarville came tearing into  Monday's  contest with three straight wins  (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a  win as the  squad sidled past the Hurricanes  4-2. That's two games straight that the Hornets have won by  exactly two  runs.
 Poplarville's victory bumped their record up to 5-3-1. As for St. Patrick, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record  this season.
 St. Patrick came up short against Poplarville in their previous matchup  back in March of 2021, falling  6-3. Can St. Patrick avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
