Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Lions vs. Overland Trailblazers

The Liberty Lions and the Overland Trailblazers will compete for holiday cheer at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Liberty knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Overland likes a good challenge.

Liberty is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Maryvale just ended the team's 11-game winning streak dating back to last season on Thursday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 77-75. The loss put an end to the Lions' undefeated start to the season.

Despite their defeat, Liberty saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Keegan Colter, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 21 points in addition to six boards and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance gave Colter a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Hunter, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, Overland ended up a good deal behind Brophy College Prep on Friday and lost 61-47. The matchup marked the Trailblazers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Liberty fell to 7-1. As for Overland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
