Basketball Recap: Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs vs. Rock Hills Grizzlies

The Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs took a 52-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rock Hills Grizzlies on Tuesday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.
Rock Hills was led to victory by Halle Mizner and Bethany Simmelink. Mizner dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 boards, while Simmelink dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Simmelink a new career-high in rebounds.
Sylvan-Lucas' loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1-1 and their overall record down to 8-4-1. As for Rock Hills, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sylvan-Lucas will head out to challenge Thunder Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
