Softball Recap: Four Straight Home Victories for York

York and Lyons pushed the score to 13-6 the last time they played Lyons, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Dukes never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Dukes in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won three in a row.

Not much got past Sophia Lanciloti, who gave up just four hits to keep Lyons off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kayla Winters, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last ten contests. Another player making a difference was Lillianah Burda, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

York pushed their record up to 18-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs across that stretch. As for Lyons, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. York will welcome IC Catholic Prep at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lyons, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Hinsdale South at 10:00 a.m.
