Basketball Recap: Jaleah Faulkner Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Anson

Cheraw won the last time they faced Anson and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cheraw Braves were the clear victor by a 53-29 margin over the Anson Bearcats. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 124th in South Carolina, while the Bearcats are ranked 472nd in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cheraw got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaleah Faulkner out in front who posted 20 points. Anyah Banks was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Anson's loss came despite strong showings from Komoria Chambers and Za'Kiah Hixson. Chambers dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards, while Hixson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards. Hixson is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Cheraw is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Anson, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-6.

Cheraw wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 67-30 defeat against Scotland on the 4th. As for Anson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-26 win against Central Academy on the 3rd.
