            Baseball Recap: Whitman Vikings vs. Blair Blazers        
        
		
        
        
            While Whitman's  victory against Blair wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  6-5  win over the Blazers  on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
 Kenneth Nickerson looked comfortable as he  tossed two innings while giving up just two earned runs off   one  hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than one  hit any time he's  pitched this season.
 On the hitting side, Whitman saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Charlie Buckles, who  went 1-for-2 with one  home run.  Noah Caruso also deserves some recognition as  he  hit his first  double of the season.

Whitman's victory was  their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 9-2. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Blair,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 7-7.
 Looking ahead, Whitman will face off against Northwood on Saturday. As for Blair, they will take on Wheaton on Saturday.
