Basketball Recap: O'connell Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Roderick Dozier and Derrick Kirks Jr

O'Connell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 76-63 to the East Chambers Buccaneers. If O'Connell was looking for revenge after losing 76-62 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Derrick Kirks Jr and Roderick Dozier certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Kirks Jr went 7 of 14 on his way to 21 points in addition to six assists and five steals, while Dozier dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 boards. The dominant performance gave Dozier a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jarrius Smith, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards.

O'Connell's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-5. As for East Chambers, they have been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

O'Connell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-36 win against Van Vleck on the 3rd. As for East Chambers, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-59 victory against Orangefield on the 3rd.
