Soccer Game Preview: Gentry vs. Dardanelle

Gentry is 2-8 against Dardanelle since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pioneers are taking a road trip to face off against the Sand Lizards at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Gentry had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the four-goal drubbing they dealt Green Forest on Tuesday. The Pioneers were the clear victors by a 5-1 margin over the Tigers. The win continues a trend for Gentry in their matchups with Green Forest: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Dardanelle entered their tilt with Prairie Grove on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Tigers 6-1. Considering Dardanelle have won five contests by more than four goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Gentry pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matchups. As for Dardanelle, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Gentry suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Dardanelle in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
