Basketball Recap: Granite City Takes a Loss

Granite City was the 80-53 winner over Lift for Life Academy when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Granite City Warriors received a blow on Friday as they fell 71-57 to the Lift for Life Academy Hawks. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Granite City still got an impressive performance from Evan Brewer, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. Brewer continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Jack Dutko was another key player, going 6-for-10 to rack up 12 points.

Granite City's loss dropped their record down to 9-22. As for Lift for Life Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-16.

Granite City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-37 defeat against Edwardsville on the 26th. Lift for Life Academy has also already played their next game (against St. Mary's), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
