Softball Recap: Rogers Has No Trouble Against Battle Ground

Rogers had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Battle Ground on Friday. The Rams were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Rams have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Sierra Murray's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Payton Walling was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Madison Adiar, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Rogers pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Battle Ground, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11-1 record this season.

Rogers didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-2 defeat against Yelm on the 16th. Battle Ground does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
