Basketball Recap: South Iron Comes Up Short

South Iron lost against St. Paul Lutheran back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The contest between the South Iron Panthers and the St. Paul Lutheran Giants didn't end well, with the South Iron Panthers falling 72-56.

St. Paul Lutheran's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reece Welier, who went 8 for 19 en route to 17 points in addition to six steals and five assists. Welier is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Weibrecht, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

South Iron's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for St. Paul Lutheran, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-5.

South Iron has already played their next matchup (against Bismarck), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. Paul Lutheran will head out to square off against Crystal City at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
