Basketball Recap: Sonora's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

Sonora fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Sterling City on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 53-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sterling City Eagles. The Broncos were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 60-41.

Despite the loss, Sonora still got an impressive performance from Evan Arredondo, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. That's the most points Arredondo has posted since back in December of 2024. Dylan Ford was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

The loss snapped Sonora's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-14 record. As for Sterling City, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-12.

Sonora will venture away from home to square off against Reagan County at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Sonora is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season. As for Sterling City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eldorado at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
