Basketball Game Preview: Benson Bunnies vs. Burke Bulldogs

The Benson Bunnies will challenge the Burke Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Benson will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Bryan, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Benson breezed by Bryan to the tune of 97-53 on Monday. With the Bunnies ahead 54-32 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Benson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Goanar Bamach, who shot 4-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten boards. The game was Bamach's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Antonio Carson Jr. was another key player, going 9 for 12 on his way to 22 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Burke earned a 57-50 victory over Grand Island on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Burke's win came from a few key players Benson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Michael White, who posted 13 points in addition to eight boards and four blocks. That's the most blocks he has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Buchanan, who had ten points and three steals.

Benson's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1. As for Burke, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Benson didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Burke in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 70-65 victory. Does Benson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Burke turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
