Football Game Preview: Gillespie Miners vs. North Mac Panthers + How To Watch

Gillespie hasn't had much luck against North Mac recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Miners will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Neither Gillespie nor North Mac posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Things were looking good for Gillespie after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a hard 27-8 fall against Staunton/Bunker Hill. That's two games in a row now that the Miners have lost by exactly 19 points.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for North Mac's offense. They were dealt a 49-0 defeat at the hands of Vandalia on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 428th, while the Vandals are ranked 168th).

Gillespie's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for North Mac, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-6.

Gillespie took a serious blow against North Mac in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, falling 54-13. Can the Miners avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
