Basketball Recap: Zion Chapel Comes Up Short

Zion Chapel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Opp Bobcats, falling 62-38. The Rebels were not able to make up for their loss to the Bobcats from their previous meeting back in November of 2015.

It was another big night for DJ Hines, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 21 boards for Opp. The dominant performance gave Hines a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jeshurun Crittenden, who went 7 of 9 en route to 15 points and five rebounds.

Zion Chapel's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Opp, they moved to 7-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Zion Chapel and Opp could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Zion Chapel (ranked 428th) will meet Brantley (ranked 66th) at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Opp (ranked 264th) will meet Andalusia (ranked 127th) at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
