Ledyard and Wheeler are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Colonels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Ledyard hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Ledyard fell victim to Montville and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 10-0 to the Wolves.

Ledyard saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Nenna, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Wheeler entered their tilt with Concord Academy on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They beat Concord Academy by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-3.

James Main and Garett Lenihan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Main struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Lenihan struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Main got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Lenihan got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Wheeler hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

Wheeler's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Ledyard, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Ledyard suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Wheeler in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Colonels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
