Basketball Recap: Westfield Comes Up Short

On Friday, Westfield faced Hamilton Southeastern in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Westfield Shamrocks were beaten by the Hamilton Southeastern Royals 51-17. The contest marked the Shamrocks' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Samantha Price and Makayla Hatcher certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Price posted four points along with eight rebounds and four blocks, while Hatcher scored eight points. Price is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played.

Maya Makalusky was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 12 boards for Hamilton Southeastern. The dominant performance gave Makalusky a new career-high in rebounds. Kennedy Holman was another key player, going 6 of 11 on her way to 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals.
