Softball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Fenton's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Fenton proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Northville Mustangs 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since May 10, 2024.

Lillian Tillier spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Taryn Craven, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Izzy MacCaughan, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Fenton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 11-1-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Northville, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fenton will head out to face off against Linden at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Northville, they will take on St. Mary's Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eaglets will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
