Football Recap: Redmond's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hazen, Redmond was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They strolled past the Newport - Bellevue Knights with points to spare, taking the game 42-23. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Redmond's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tahlil Hall led the charge by rushing for 185 yards and three scores while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also throwing for 11 yards and one touchdown. With that strong performance, Hall is now averaging an impressive 123.5 rushing yards per game. Jay Heath was another key pass catcher, picking up 164 receiving yards and three TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Redmond was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 202 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Redmond didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Heath and Atahan Balkis.

Despite the loss, Newport - Bellevue had strong showings from Tj Rhatigan, who rushed for 68 yards and a pair of scores, and Aj Atofau, who rushed for 78 yards. Rhatigan has been hot recently, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played.

Redmond's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Newport - Bellevue, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
