Baseball Recap: Owosso Has No Trouble Against Kearsley

While Owosso put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Kearsley. The Trojans put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 10-0 win. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Hornets on Friday, they had to take a 6-5 defeat.

Jackson Sydow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Owosso got a massive performance out of Cyril Thompson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave Thompson a new career-high. Ryan Maier was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Owosso always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kearsley only posted an OBP of .167.

Owosso's victory bumped their record up to 19-10. As for Kearsley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.
