Recap: Grundy County Yellowjackets vs. Forrest Rockets
The Grundy County Yellowjackets won the last time they faced the Forrest Rockets, and things went their way on Friday too. Grundy County strolled past the Rockets with points to spare, taking the game 55-41. Given Grundy County's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Rockets are ranked 340th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grundy County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gracie Panter, who scored 12 points. Panter is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlee Smartt, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Grundy County is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Forrest, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Grundy County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th. As for Forrest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Champions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
