Baseball Recap: Union County Wins Going Away Against Dixie County

Union County won the last time they faced Dixie County and things went their way on Thursday too. The Union County Fightin' Tigers put the hurt on the Dixie County Bears with a sharp 16-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fightin' Tigers.

Kacen Thomassen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in hits (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, JAKE WALKER was incredible, going a perfect4-for-4 with six RBI and one double. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (four). Another player making a difference was Erick Lasseter, who scored two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Union County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dixie County only posted an OBP of .190.

Union County now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Dixie County, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Union County will take on Nease at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dixie County, they will face off against Williston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
