Basketball Recap: Arthur-Okaw Christian's Loss Ends 22-Game Winning Streak at Home

Arthur-Okaw Christian entered their match against Arcola on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Arthur-Okaw Christian Conquering Riders fell 50-38 to the Arcola Purple Riders. The Conquering Riders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Purple Riders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Arthur-Okaw Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Avery Herschberger and Annabelle Haskins. Herschberger posted 17 points and three steals, while Haskins had ten points. That was a full 44.7% of Arthur-Okaw Christian's points, marking the third time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Arthur-Okaw Christian's defeat ended a 22-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-5. As for Arcola, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arthur-Okaw Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Calvary Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Calvary Christian Academy will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Arthur-Okaw Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Arcola, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Blue Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Arcola is facing Blue Ridge at the right time seeing as Blue Ridge is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
