Softball Game Preview: King Academy Knights vs. Wardlaw Academy Patriots

For the second straight game, King Academy will face off against Wardlaw Academy. The Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

King Academy couldn't beat Wardlaw Academy on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Knights fell 11-7 to the Patriots. The match marked the Knights' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

For Wardlaw Academy's part, Brianna McNeill ( JR) made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. McNeill ( JR) was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Hill (JR), who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Hailey Holmes (SR) was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

Wardlaw Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Wardlaw Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, King Academy fell to 6-1.
