Softball Recap: Riverside-Durham Extends Winning Streak to Three

Riverside-Durham hadn't done well against Cary recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Pirates came out on top against the Imps by a score of 8-3. The victory was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on three straight.

Grace Arrington made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

In other batting news, Grayson Knotts was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Paris Chavis, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Riverside-Durham's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Cary, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Riverside-Durham didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-0 win against Chapel Hill on the 22nd. As for Cary, they have also already played their next match, a 17-2 loss against Middle Creek on the 22nd.
