Baseball Recap: Genoa-Kingston Comes Up Short

Genoa-Kingston had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 8-17 to make it four. They fell 14-9 to the Woodstock Blue Streaks. The Cogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Streaks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

As for Woodstock, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-15. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Woodstock's part, Cayden Holtzee was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave Holtzee a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Devin Haggerty, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

While Genoa-Kingston had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
