Preview: Reidsville Rams vs. Morehead Panthers

Reidsville has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Morehead Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Reidsville's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.

Reidsville stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They put the hurt on McMichael with a sharp 77-56 win. Given Reidsville's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while McMichael is ranked 382nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Morehead pushed their score all the way to 74 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 84-74 to Walkertown. Morehead has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their defeat, Morehead saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Makel Smith, who went 7 for 16 from beyond the arc en route to 35 points and 2 assists, was perhaps the best of all. Smith has been hot recently, having posted 23 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Seth Sharpe, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Reidsville pushed their record up to 20-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Morehead, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Reidsville against Morehead when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 86-52 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Smith, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Reidsville still be able to contain Smith? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
