Basketball Game Preview: Madison Warhawks vs. Olympian Eagles

The Madison Warhawks will square off against the Olympian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Madison's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.

Madison picked up another tournament win on Monday. They wrapped up 2024 with a 59-44 win over Maranatha Christian.

Madison can attribute much of their success to Runnar(Rj) Miller, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards, and Eli Stevens, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 19 points and three steals. That's the most points Stevens has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristen Moore, who posted seven points.

Madison smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Olympian didn't have too much trouble with Vista on Monday as they won 52-37. The 52-point effort marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Olympian's win came from a few key players Madison will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tristan Anderson, who had 14 points. Sammell Humphries was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Olympian's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Madison, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Madison hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 64.3 points per game. However, it's not like Olympian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 65.4 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
