Preview: Awaken Christian Lions vs. American Heritage Academy Patriots
The Awaken Christian Lions will be playing at home against the American Heritage Academy Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Awaken Christian earned a 39-32 victory over GV Christian. The victory was just what Awaken Christian needed coming off of a 55-11 defeat in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Awaken Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Katelynn Montello, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten steals. Montello is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Phoenix Sharp was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with nine blocks and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, the third road match was the charm for American Heritage Academy, as they earned their first road win of the season. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Non Varsity Opponent two weeks ago and snuck past 29-26.
Awaken Christian now has a winning record of 8-7. As for American Heritage Academy, the victory also got them back to even at 3-3.
