Baseball Recap: Montour Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Montour owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Central Valley Warriors. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Tommy Butts looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Matteo Weber, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Andrew Porto, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Montour pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Central Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montour will host Baldwin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Central Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hopewell at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
