Soccer Recap: New Bern Takes a Loss

Despite a strong season so far, New Bern has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They took a 4-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jacksonville Cardinals on Tuesday. The game got a bit rough at times, as the refs handed out a total of three yellow cards before it was all over: New Bern's Spencer Goodwin and Jacksonville's Ryan Hanks and Cannon Smith were all carded.

Goodwin wasn't going to let Jacksonville walk away unscathed as he scored both of New Bern's goals, bringing his season total up to 31 goals.

New Bern's defeat dropped their record down to 14-3. As for Jacksonville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4-2 record this season.

New Bern wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against J.H. Rose on the 23rd. As for Jacksonville, they also didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against D.H. Conley on the 23rd.
