Softball Recap: Valley View Extends Winning Streak to Six

Valley View entered their tilt with Thomas Jefferson on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Jaguars 14-3. Considering the Cougars have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Abbi Call made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, four RBI, and one double while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Valley View got a massive performance out of Taylor Cawley, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Hallett, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Valley View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in five consecutive matchups.

Valley View's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Thomas Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Coming up, Valley View will face off against Delaware Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Thomas Jefferson, they will challenge Albert Gallatin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colonials have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.25 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
