Softball Recap: Calhoun Academy Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Calhoun Academy posted their closest win since March 7th on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 victory over the Providence Athletic Club Panthers. This was a revenge game for the Cavaliers: when they faced off against the Panthers last Friday, they had to take a 4-1 loss.

Cailin Shirer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anslea Aaron, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Coker Carson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Calhoun Academy pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.1 runs over those games. As for Providence Athletic Club, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 15 games and leaves them with a 19-2 record.

As of now, neither Calhoun Academy nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
